VHF reception - Trinity/New Port Richey area...Florida
http://www.tvfool.com/?option=com_wr...ec12572248d1f8
I only get 1 High VHF channel (Fox 13). Would like to get CBS, NBC, etc... Get plenty of UHF channels. I have a Terk multi directional indoor antenna that i bought for $80 at best buy (its a square looking thing). I have placed it in different areas and tried to scan...still only get one high vhf channel (Fox 13) Any help is GREATLY appreciated! New to the antenna thing...also live in townhouse so an exterior antenna is probably not possible without starting a fight. |
I'd try an RCA ANT-111 or a Terk HDTVi. Those and similar designs have adjustable length VHF dipole rods which can be more effective at receiving VHF signals.

thanks for the info. I bought a cheap $10 uhf/vhf at wallymart and it works just as good as the $80 one which i'm returning. I'll look at those brands you recommended. Would it help if i put it near a window on the 2nd floor? On the cheap one NBC is spotty....still get ABC and FOX. No CBS yet though. Should i get 50' of coax and try different locations? I am just running it on one tv
Thanks for the help, |
Antenna location and type are the two most critical factors that determine reception reliability. Yes, if you can locate the antenna where it will have a clear view of the station antenna tower, you'll have better success.
WTSP-CBS is broadcast of real CH-10. To optimize the dipole rods of the 'rabbit ears', adjust each to about 14 inches in length. That will tune the VHF dipole section of the antenna to the frequency of CH-10. If you have the Wallmart model number, it may be a valid addition to the list of indoor antennas... If it works well for you, no need to spend any more money. An extension cable sounds like a better investment. |
Wow thanks again. I had no idea on the length of the dipoles. I just extended them all the way out. I think i bought an RCA one like the one you recommended, it has a plastic thicker loop than the metal one you recommended.
