Thanks toddbailey, for letting me jump into your thread.

After a day of research on the WWW, I found a number of sites that were able to answer some of my questions from above. Some were from the AVS forum and another was from our very own TV Fool post of a couple of years ago by rabbit73, who is among the salt of the earth.

I also spoke with rep from TelevesUSA today and she was quite helpful in clarifying my issues.

All the best as you resolve your issues too!

so I have a cm-4228 already deployed and i get some but not all the channels, the ones I'm interested in are on the vhf-hi frequency ch 9, 11 & 13. and uhf 16. 9 and 16 are mia, 11 & 13 are iffy
signal strength is 26, 28 & 29. additionally uhf 16 has a signal strength of 27.

Does dropping apx 150 us for a televes antenna guarantee reception since the cm has very good reviews ?

locast provides these for $6 / month but do not offer a easy means to record.

No, it does not guarantee reception; it's a close call.

There is only one way to find out; by trying it.

I was thinking of cost for an experiment when I suggested the Stellar Labs 30-2475 or 30-2476 in post #4 as a separate antenna for VHF-High.

I hope toddbailey won't mind too much if I ask another question, since you, JoeAz are the only one I've come across who has experience with this antenna.

I'm in SoCal LA/OC where signals are strong, but with a few Low-VHF that I watch, Retro 63.3 display real 4, and High-VHF 8, which is weak pointed directly into LA proper, but I can receive most of the time.

Two questions: Any overload issues you might see for me if I picked up the Televes, especially since most other LA stations are above 30SNR? And, the specs on Low-VHF passive are -3; you said your antenna performed better than the listed specs?

Thanks again, JoeAz, for your help. Techs like you have been essential here on this forum among others!

I've had absolutely no overload issues at all and would expect the same for you
in LA/OC. The preamp is designed to reject overload signal. Seems to work great for me! There are times when I see the signal/quality meter on the TV
fluctuate a bit after immediately changing channels. I am told it is the preamp
adjusting to the new signal.....
The antenna I have is for Rf 7-36 only and it REJECTS FM, LOW BAND VHF and cell signals. I haven't been able to find any antenna, in actual use, that outperforms the TELVES. Some indicate better specs but the proof is in the ACTUAL Performance and the TELEVES rocks!

I would agree with Rabbit 73. Since you have already purchased the CM, it would be advisable to give it a thorough try. It you are unhappy or cannot live with the results, then give the TELEVES a try. I doubt you be disappointed.......
