I am looking for a roof mounted antenna to feed three DirectTV OTA tuners. I currently am using three small amplified Radio Shack antennaes that are mounted on the electrical conduit (vertical) that feed my swamp cooler which is below the peak of the roof. I do have lots of trees in the los. I get good reception most of the time but do have issues from time to time with KKCO. I use to have issues with KREX but haven't lately. Basically drop out issues with both channels. I can move the antennaes around and get better reception for KKCO but then I lose a little signal with KJCT. I am thinking I would be better off with one larger antenna mounted on tripod on roof peak with pre-amp so I don't have to mess with three small antennaes. Thanks for your help.
I suggest a Winegard HD7000R antenna aimed at about 100 degrees magnetic compass. Here is how to aim antennas , http://www.kyes.com/antenna/pointing/pointing.html. No preamp will be needed , the signals are strong and will supply signal to 3 tuners. Are you keeping direct tv service??
Thanks John. I am keeping Direct TV service. I have had it since 1994 and have had great service. I just like having the local channels integrated with my Direct TV satellite (hd recorders too) and having the ability to record OTA.
