Newbie need advice.

Hello all,

I'm new to Ota antennas and would like your input on what to get.
I'm looking to pickup the channels South of the border mainly Wcax, Wptz, Wfff... From Montreal.

Would a DB4e antenna do the job or would I need the bigger brother DB8e?
I will be running a coaxial cable about 50 feet, will I need preamp?
Like I said in the beginning, I'm a total newbie to this but would like to learn more.

Thanks

I don't think it is possible to do what you want without resorting to extreme (expensive) measures.

The problem is that you would need a high gain antenna like the DB8e with both panels aimed in the same direction and a preamp, BUT the preamp would be overloaded by your very strong local signals because the antenna would be aimed not only at the US signals but also your strong local signals.

With extreme measures you might be able to receive WCAX for CBS because it is the strongest in the series you want. A setup for CBS would be a separate antenna and preamp with a custom single channel bandpass filter for real channel 22 from Tin Lee Electronics.

The US channels that you want are not only weak, but they are 80 miles away which means that the curvature of the earth will block the signals.
