Need an digital / hd antenna

I have posted in another forum and received one antenna recommendation... from what I am understanding, the antennas I am looking at below will NOT pick up ALL Los Angeles channels. So can someone on this forum recommend a couple of good choices?

I live in the SoCal area. have cut the cable and want to buy an outdoor HD antenna... but have a few questions.

Many of the antenna's I'm looking at state they are UHF antennas... am I to understand that ALL the HD channels are now on the UHF band and not VHF??? OR, do I need an antenna that pulls in both, UHF and VHF?? My goal is to pull in the major networks: CBS 2; NBC 4; KTLA 5; ABC 7; KCAL 9; KTTV 11; KCOP 13... and any of their sub stations like Cozy TV and KTLA's Antenna TV stations

I am located about 30 miles from Mt Wilson (in a direct line), and the antenna will be install on a mast on my roof.

The units I'm looking at are.

1) Wineguard - Flatwave Air, HL6550A
2) Antenna's Direct - DB8e
3) Channel Master - 4228HD

Any help or suggestions appreciated.

thanks

The LA market is served by a mix of UHF and VHF signals. Most real channels carry multiple data streams, each identified by virtual channel ID's that usually do not match the real channel number used to broadcast them. This is common in most markets.

Yep. Now wait for the experts to weigh in.

You could look at the real channel for the stations you want, and see if they are broadcasting on VHF low, VHF high or UHF. This makes a big difference in which antenna(s) you choose.

A Simple reception situation.

The Tv stations you have listed and Many More Will Be Received.

Above the Peak of the Roof install a.

HD850 All Channel Antenna.

Aim the antenna at about 300 degree magnetic compass direction.

---------------------

Here is how to aim antennas.

http://www.kyes.com/antenna/pointing/pointing.html.

Use a Real and Actual magnetic compass to aim antenna , do not trust a , cell phone , tablet and etc. compass.

To assist the best reception , most Digital Tv's have a Signal Strength Meter and some Digital Tv's also have a Signal Quality Meter.

As always , the antenna aim direction and antenna location can be adjusted to for the best reception.

----------------------

The Tv reception is strong signal strength at your location , a antenna system amplifier is not required.

----------------------

For 1 Tv connected use No splitter.

For 2 Tv's connected use a 2 way splitter.

For 3 Tv's connected use a 3 way splitter.

----------------------

Here are more options for antenna mounting.

Here are some and not all above the roof antenna mounts.

http://www.ronard.com/909911.html. Install the , 3 foot or 5 foot , tripod antenna mount.

http://www.ronard.com/34424560.html. Install the , ronard(4560) , eave antenna mount.

http://www.ronard.com/ychim.com. Measure around the chimney and use a , ronard(2212) , ronard(2218) , ronard(2224) .

----------------------

If you have any type or kind of Active Cable delivered service , be it , cable Tv service , cable internet service , cable phone service.

The cable delivered service must be on a Separate coax from the antenna system coaxes.

Yes the coaxes that are in or on the building can be used for the antenna / antenna system.

But any cable delivered service must be on a Separate coax.

----------------------

If you were connected to a satellite system service.

All the devices of the satellite system must be disconnected.

Yes the satellite system coaxes can be used for the antenna system
