South Minneapolis help

Hello. New to the forum here, and new to non-cable TV. I've had cable for...almost my entire life, and I've recently moved and since I have Netflix, and Prime, and Hulu I don't want to pay stupid Comcast anymore. I do want local channels. I have an antenna that is capable of picking up UHF and VHF signals, it's near an outside wall, and window, but I can't get KARE 11 to save my life. I've tried everything from moving the antenna higher, to pointing it in different directions, and everything else I could think of with no luck. It sucks because it is basically the only channel my girlfriend watches.

Anyway, we live in a house that she owns, and I'm trying to figure out how to either make my current indoor antenna pick up KARE 11, or find the best outdoor antenna to use in my location. I really need to get this taken care of. Happy girlfriend = happy home.

Here's my report...

Any advice on making my current antenna work, or recommendations for an outdoor antenna (that isn't too expensive...like...$75 or less, maybe...if possible) would be fantastic!

Thanks in advance.

Ben

Which specific antenna do you have?

What direction does that window face? You need one that faces north-northeasterly.

I have a Phillips SDV2270/17 VHF/UHF/FM Indoor Antenna. At least that's what it says on the bottom. I got it from a friend. It picks up everything I care about except KARE 11 (ironically).

One window faces east, one south.

The antenna needs to be in a location where the signals can actually get to it. That means NNE.

Indoor reception of VHF can be extremely tough due to indoor electrical interference and poor building penetration.

Alright. Thanks. Good advice, I'll give it a shot.

Any recommendations on an outdoor antenna?

I've been looking at the RCA ANT751 because I've read good reviews and it's cheap. I could definitely aim that north/northeast.
