Do I have any Chance?

Trying to get some reception at my hunting camp in Tionesta PA. Our camp is on the top of a hill, there are some trees, but we have an old roof mounted antenna (est. 25 ft.) that we used to recived analog signal from.

We had the dish for a while, but no longer. Now I am trying to see if I have any chance of even getting an few digital channels.

any help or advise on equipment would be greatly appreciated.

Jeff

One Pennsylvania boy to another, I have installed in that area and it is challenging, however since you are on the top, I can see no reason, even with some trees around that you should have any difficulty receiving the Altoona/Johnstown stations. Use a Channel Master 4228 HD 8 bay antenna and a Channel Master 7777 pre-amp mounted on the roof as clear of the trees as possible. Aim the antenna to 318 degrees magnetic, and with a DTV set or a converter box, scan for channels. be sure if you are using a DTV set that you configure it to receive antenna channels, not cable. If you travel near Harrisburg, you can pick these items and any cable ect. that you need at Cumberland Electronics. Call first 888-501-9658.

If you can't find it locally, Cumberland will ship. If you need to you can subsitute the amp. Just make sure that it is UHF/VHF.

Tv Antennas and Tv Reception

The tvfool radar plot says has been resolved to Zip Code level only and may not be accurate for your location. PA is known the have at least two hills and two mountains and there may be more. Zip code covers a large area and the reception may not be accurate for your exact location. To make a more accurate tvfool radar report go to the home page of tvfool and click on the >>Start Maps<< , enter in the zip code or city that is close to the cabin and then move the red pointer to the exact location of the cabin , make the antenna height 25 feet , and make a tvfool radar plot report.
Then I can recommend the correct antenna for reception.

I have tested and installed in that area. I know the terrain and the stations...That is better than any computer plot. I recommended the right antenna.

The digital Tv stations are weaker at this location then the first location.
What about trees to the north west at about 326 degree magnetic compass. About how far away from the cabin. Tell me about the trees.

Install a Winegard HD9095P antenna and a Winegard YA1713 antenna , both aimed at about 326 degree magnetic compass.
Connect the HD9095P and YA1713 to a Winegard AP2870 Preamp.

The HD9095P and YA1713 and the preamp part of the AP2870 are mounted above the roof.

Here is how to aim antennas , http://www.kyes.com/antenna/pointing/pointing.html.

Here are some examples of above the roof mounts , http://www.ronard.com/909911.html , http://www.ronard.com/34424560.html , http://www.ronard.com/ychim.html , http://www.ronard.com.
Buy the ronard antennas at solidsignal by typing the word ronard in the solidsignal search box or buy from ronard.

Here are places to buy antennas and etc. , http://www.solidsignal.com , http://www.winegarddirect.com , http://www.amazon.com.

The Tv stations are the direction of 326 degree magnetic compass.

WJET-TV channel 24 ABC

WICU-DT channel 12 NBC and CW and CBS .

WSEE-TV channel 16 CBS and CW and NBC .

WQLN channel 50 PBS

WFXP-DT channel 22 FOX

The Tv/s Must scan for the Digital Broadcast Tv Channels sometimes named the 'Antenna Channels' or 'Air Channels' in the Tv setup menu because the broadcast Tv transmissions travel through the air from the transmitting antenna to the receiving antenna.

Do Not scan for cable tv channels.
