Advice needed please

Their are so many options and choices I am not sure which way to go. I am a single dad supporting two young children. Making the right choice and saving money is very important to me and all I am sure.

I have a single story home with antenna mast and no antenna (Yet). I will try and connect to my FTA receiver or TV (newer TV).

Main purpose is get local channels but would also love to hit the US ones if I could? I see they border on 100KMS.
Any Advice greatly appreciated; preamp? rotor? Antenna?

I am fairly handy and have been looking at the Gray Hoverman design?

Thanks John...Is there any benefit in going to the CM3020? also do I require a preamp? Last question..will the rotor turn automatically to my desired channel from my FTA receiver or TV? seems like a pain in the ass to have to do it manually with a separate remote. Their must be a device out there somewhere?

FTA can define different types and kinds and methods of tv reception. Define clearly what type and kind you are referring to. The CM9521A has automatic rotor programing. Stay with the CM3018. And yes a preamp can be used , I recommend a Antennas Direct CPA-19 preamp. --> Free Tv is Free Tv.<--> You can pay for pay cable or pay satellite for more convenience.

I would not recommend an all-band antenna. For digital, you need only high-VHF and UHF. Follow John's recommendation to consult with the fine folks at digital home before spending any money.

Thanks John...My FTA is Sonicview SV8000HD. I agree free TV is free TV that is why I am willling to pay for one time devices to make it simplier for my family...Great Advice straight forward and simple,
