Help with Antenna, and location

I am not real familiar with the antenna, and am looking to cut some money by switching fron satellite to antenna. Problem is I don't know what kind of antenna I need for my location. I currently own a 42" Sony Bravia KDL 40S504. Live in a rural neighborhood with a few tall trees around, not to thich though. I live in a one story house and would like to mount the antenna on the roof or side of the house where the dish is (currently approx. 10 feet up).

Here is a copy of my tvfool report.

thanks

Any help would be appreciated

The Rolla area is pretty much SOL when it comes to antenna reception. The only successful installations there that I've seen were deepest fringe setups on 50' (or more) towers on a hill.

A 91XG with a PA18 might get you some reception out of Springfield (except KOLR), but its a really long-shot bet.

Good luck!

As I did , go to the >>StartMAPS<< part of tvfool select the current plus pending channels and raise the antenna height , now should see a improvement in how many transmitters you can receive and improvement in the signal strength. Then repost the results back here.

He's 80+ miles away from the nearest stations in my back yard. I'm pretty familiar with the area...

Playing with TVFool won't change his situation unless he can get another 100' of elevation.

The antenna location can be moved around (the red balloon pointer). If raising the antenna height improves the signal strength of NM(dB) to +5 or more then thats good. I suggest a Winegard HD7697P antenna. And to recommend the preamp I need to know how many tv's will be connected ? Also read and understand this http://forum.tvfool.com/showthread.php?t=695

Sigh....

Since the OP hasn't visited since shortly after his original post, there's no use beating a dead horse.

My apologies for such a late reply. It can take me sometimes a few days to reply, being busy with work and all.

I wasn't sure what kind of elevation i might need to reach springfield channels. That's why I was hoping a real good antenna might help me out. I will take your word for it, and more than likely won't give it a try because of the amount of distance I am away from springfield and St. Louis. If I were to continue and try to hook an antenna up it would be used with two televisions.

thanks for your help.
