Help for a friend

My friend wants to get an antenna.

Here is his radar plot:
http://www.tvfool.com/?option=com_wr...1ddacf2ccf1054

No existing setup.
He doesn't care about the spanish channels.
He's planning on mounting on his roof or sidewall, he's estimated about 30 feet.
Might be a few trees in the way, but mostly clear.

Thanks,
Joseph Elwell.

The San Diego market is generally a two antenna area. That appears to be the case in this situation as well.

An Antennas Direct DB4e facing about 150° will cover the UHF stations. An Antennacraft Y5713 pointed at 189° covers the VHF signals. You'll need a UVSJ to combine the antennas into a single coax.

You didn't mention how many TVs will be connected, but this system should be capable of driving a 4-way splitter without a preamp.

A Simple reception situation.

The Tv stations to the , north east , are infomercials and languages other the english.

The Tv stations at 177 degree magnetic compass direction are Strong Signal Strength , LOS = Line Of Sight , 7.2 and 7.3 miles away , so no requirement to aim a antenna directly at the Tv stations.

That leaves the Tv stations to the south east.

The spread of the Tv stations to the south east is 25 degrees.

This is Well Within the Reception Ability of 1 Tv Antenna.

And the Tv stations at 177 degree magnetic compass direction are So Strong that the Tv stations will be received no matter what direction a antenna is turned.

Above the peak of the roof install a Winegard HD7696P antenna with a Winegard HDP-269 preamp , aimed at about 137 degree magnetic compass direction , a in between aim direction.

For 1 Tv connected use no splitter.

For 2 Tv's connected use a , HFS-2D , 2 way splitter.

For 3 Tv's connected use a , HFS-3D , 3 way splitter.

For 4 Tv's connected use a , HFS-4D , 4 way splitter.

Here are some places to buy antennas and etc. , http://www.solidsignal.com , http://www.amazon.com , http://www.winegarddirect.com.

______________

As always , trees and tree leaves do a good job of , reflecting , reducing , blocking , reception and so do buildings and other obstructions including your own roof and house.

It is best install the HD7696P antenna at a location that has the ;least amount to no amount of obstructions of any type or kind in the directions of reception including your own roof and house.

The Tv's Must Channel Scan for the Digital Broadcast Tv Channels , often named the 'Air Channels' or 'Antenna Channels' in the Tv setup menu because the Tv transmissions travel through the Air from the transmitting antenna to the receiving antenna.

Some Digital Tv's will automatic channel scan for cable tv channels.

DO NOT channel scan for cable tv channels.

Go into the Tv setup menu and select , 'Air Channels' / 'Antenna Channels'.
