Help with reception

We have poor reception of most channels, especially 2,6,12. http://www.tvfool.com/?option=com_wr...3cf4658af730bd

Our antenna is at 19 ft. (about 5 ft. above the roof), cable run to tv is about 55 ft., antenna is Radio Shack 150-0264 installed 5/2009, but cable is much older. Indoors we have a Channel Master amplifier model 3043, gain 22dB and a Philco converter box model TB100HH9.

Sometimes when the weather is clear and calm, we receive all the channels (2,6,8,10,12). 2 and 6 are most sensitive to weather-- sometimes even clouds or light mist can cause no signal. Channel 8 and 10 usually have good reception even with rain. There is a row of fir trees about 120 ft. from the
antenna and another row of pine trees about 50 ft. beyond the firs. Both are
between the antenna and the tv towers.

We tried no amp and reception was even worse. Since the cable is old, would you recommend replacing it first? We are not sure if the amp is working correctly all of the time. If we replace it, what would you recommend? Any other recommendations are welcome too!
Thanks!
