Antenna(s) recomendations

First of all great Forum!

I'm new to this group, getting ready to cut the cable cord and could use some advice.

Most of the channels we want to receive come from 140 - 165 degrees however we also want to receive the ones from 258 - 260 degrees.

What is the best way to accomplish this without a rotator?
A rotator is out due to the need to use our Tivo DVR.
Is it as simple as getting two antennas and a combiner?

My report is here

Thanks in advance for your thoughts and advice!

Consider a DB8E installed with half the antenna aimed at Grand Island and half aimed at Colden. That's essentially the same as two 4 bay antennas added together with a splitter.

A Simple 2 Antenna Reception Situation.

Above the Peak of the Roof in such a manner that reception is not , obstructed , impeded , blocked , by the roof and building in the directions of , North West , West , South West , South , East.

For reception of the Strong Signal Strength USA Tv stations to , South East , South , South West , West.

And The Weak Signal Strength , Canada Tv stations to , West , North West.

Install a , www.antennacraft.net , U8000 UHF antenna aimed at about 320 degree magnetic compass direction.

The Weak signal strength Canada Tv UHF Tv stations will be received at the front of the U8000 UHF antenna and the Stronger signal strength USA Tv stations will be received through back and back angles of the U8000 antenna.

-------------------------

Here is how to aim antennas , www.kyes.com/antenna/pointing/pointing.html

Use a Real and Actual magnetic compass to aim antenna , do not trust a cell phone compass.

--------------------------

Also install on the same antenna mast about 3 feet above or below the U8000 antenna , install a , Antennas Direct , C5 VHF antenna aimed at about 187 degree magnetic compass direction to receive , WBBZ-TV Real VHF high band channel 7 , (virt) virtual number (67.1) .

The C5 antenna comes with a combiner to connect the U8000 UHF antenna and the C5 VHF antenna on to 1 coax.

www.amazon.com

www.google.com

---------

The 2 antenna combination will supply signal to , 1 , 2 , 3 , Tv's.

For 1 Tv connected use No splitter.

For 2 Tv's connected use a 2 way splitter.

For 3 Tv's connected use a 3 way splitter.

-----------------

Here are some above the roof antenna mounts.

Use the , ronard(911) , 5 foot tripod antenna mount.

www.ronard.com/34424560.html
Use the , ronard(4560) , eave antenna mount.

www.ronard.com/ychim.html
Measure around the chimney and use a , ronard(2212) , ronard(2218) , ronard(2224) .

Buy the ronard antenna mounts at , www.ronard.com .

----------

Home Depot has 10 foot 6 inch lengths of 1 and 3/8 inch diameter , TOP RAIL , chain link fence , PIPE , that makes good antenna mast pipe.
The price is low at about 10 dollars.

----------------------

As always , trees and tree leaves , plants and plant leaves , have a Negative Effect on Broadcast Tv Reception and so do buildings and other obstructions including your own roof and building.

Some and not all Negative Effects are.

Absorbing and Blocking Reception.

Multi-Path Reflecting Tv Signals Bouncing All Around.

The Best Pratice for Reliable Reception is to install the antennas at a location that has the least amount to no amount of obstructions of any type or kind in the directions of reception including your own roof and building.

The CS5 could be tried by itself. It has good H-VHF (real CH-7 through 13) performance but it also has incidental UHF capability that can be considered close to omnidirectional.

If the results are not completely satisfying, a UHF only design could be added at any time. I'd opt for the DB8E given it's optimized for the new UHF band, real CH-14 through CH-51.
