Rural NC antenna gear challenge

Greetings. About two years I switched to OTA and haven't looked back, it works great at my permanent residence and I get pretty much all I want from TV. But, I live in an urban area and just threw a MoHu Leaf on top of my set and get something like 20 channels.

I recently decided to do the same at my cabin in the mountains, and I have found a lot of conflicting info about what I need to get a few channels there. The signals are not great, the terrain is challenging to say the least, and would appreciate any advice from the experts here. Some sites say I may not get ANYTHING at my location.

The signal analysis is as follows...

Uploaded with ImageShack.us

I obviously need a VHF antenna, and a pre-amp. What is not clear to me is...

Do I need a directional antenna? This is challenging, because I am just over the first edge of the Blue Ridge escarpment. We get wind. Like, they made me engineer my cabin for 110mph gust. It has 10' tall 3/4" steel bolts every 30" inside the walls. Sticking one on a post on the roof is probably a bad idea. Model rec's would be great. I have been thinking about a Antennas Direct ClearStream 4.

Tell me about Preamps, which ones work out outside? I know I need to get it close to the antenna, and that might be about 30" up in a tree near the cabin. I have been thinking about the RCA TVPRAMP1R Outdoor Antenna Preamplifier. But, I know slightly less than nothing when it comes to this piece of gear.

Have you ever seen the look on your dog's face when you pick it up in the air? That's how I look when I am on top of an extended 40' ladder.

I am a large and heavy guy and being 30' off the ground is something I'd rather not do any more than I have to. Having a set-it and forget-it set-up would be great.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I should add that everything from slightly past due west all the way to due south and back to almost due east is obscured by a big-arse mountain that is right behind my cabin, and probably unobtainium.

Signals due west, run into the escarpment of the "Black Mountains" which consist of 7 peaks over 6,000ft. I am at 3,300ft.

Due northwest headed to due north and back northeast have some hills in front of them, but they are some distance away.

I never recommend a rotator with a antenna.

However this time I will.

Because of the Diverse Directions of the Tv stations and channels.

And the Low signal strengths of the Tv stations/channels

Install a Winegard HD7084P All channel antenna.

Install a AR40 antenna rotator and control unit , to turn the Large HD7084P All channel antenna.

For reception of ,

W02AT-D VHF low band channel 02 , WSPA , CBS and MeTv.

W08BF-D VHF high band channel 08 , WSPA , CBS and MeTv.

WCYB-TV VHF low band channel 05 , NBC and The CW.

W31DI-D UHF channel 31 , PBS.

W09AS VHF high band channel 09 , WYFF , NBC and This Tv.

WLOS VHF high band channel 13 , ABC and MyNetwork.

When using a rotator to turn the antenna , the Tv Must Be Capable of , Add/Scan channels , aka , Scan/Add channels , or , Direct entry of the Real channel number.

So the the channels can be put into the tuner memory with out deleting channels that were scaned before.

The tvfool channel list shows the Real Channel that is transmitted and received and the , virtual number.

Sorry for the long delayed follow-up. Thanks for the suggestions. I'll give directional on a rotator a try and see what happens. I'll report back when I have installed and scanned.
