Problem receiving NBC in Northern Virginia

is the description of my signal reception. I have a Channel Master 4228HD antenna.

It does not pick up any NBC stations. I don't understand this at all, as it picks up all the Washington DC stations that are located on the same hill in DC.

I've tried to attenuate the signal with three interconnected in-line signal attenuators, total of 19 db, but no joy.

There is a pre-amp on the antenna.

Not sure if it's multi-path problem or what.

Any help would be most welcome!

My kids want me to go to cable, but I am too cheap.

Any chance you can move the antenna up / down in 6 inch increments? If WRC is the only problem station, the antenna is likley sitting in a dead spot for that signal. How well do you receive DC 50? (The CW)

The CM4228HD is designed to be a UHF antenna channels 14 thru 51 antenna and also fair a job of receiving the VHF high band channels 7 thru 13 , if the VHF signals are strong.

WRC-DT to the east is REAL UHF channel 48 , virtual number (4.1) NBC.

WHAG-DT to the north is REAL UHF channel 26 , virtual number (25.1) NBC.

The main groups of receivable Digital Tv stations/channels are to the , north east , east , east south.

I recommend aim the CM4228HD antenna at about 75 degree magnetic compass direction.

Digital tuners can develop , Digital Glitches , that are not cleared out with a simple channel scan.

Do a Double Channel Rescan , http://www.dtv.gov/rescan.html.

I also recommend have only 1 Tv connected for this testing setup.

No splitters , splitters reduce the signal strength.

Is a amplifier being used?? And if so , what is the make and model number.

As always , trees and tree leaves do a real fine job of reducing or blocking Tv reception and so do buildings and other obstructions including your own house and the roof.

It is best to install the CM4228HD antenna at a location that has the least amount to no amount of obstructions of any type or kind in the directions of reception including the roof and house.

Thanks so much. The antenna is mounted with a gable end eave mount. I guess I could climb up there and play with moving it up or down six inches. I don't pay much attention to CW50, will need to check when I get home, but I think it comes in fine.

I had the same problem in Manassas with WRC a while back. Put up a brand new antenna in the same spot as the old one with no improvement. Moved the antenna down 6 inches & problem was solved. The CW is usually the toughest station to receive reliably in areas far west of DC.
