LAVA antenna no signal

I just bought a LAVA HD antenna to replace Dish Network (why pay for TV AND get commercials?). I used the existing cabling, which was working last night on my 1 year old Panasonic TC-54PS14. The antenna is 30 ft off the ground, not blocked, in fact I can see the towers from my roof. I am getting "Channel not available" and no channels on auto search. All connections seem to be tight.
Any help???
ps: been on cable or satellite for 15 years so I forgot all OTA stuff.

Have you switched the TV set from CATV to off air mode?
