Attic Antenna in east side Cleveland

Hi All,

Was wondering if the Winegard HD7698P would be the ticket for me to pull in all of the Cleveland stations (all are in "yellow") here:

http://www.tvfool.com/?option=com_wr...5b94c4036565c5

Basically they are all around 234 degrees, so I think I should be good with not needing a multi-directional. Need something UHF/VHF as there are 2 major channels still broadcast on VHF. The problem child is WOIO-19 CBS, weakest signal of the group. Was hoping to get that channel as well so I can see how bad the Browns look next season....... Looks like the HD7698HD has the gain needed, considering signal loss in attic too.

I have a huge space in the attic for this to fit, roof is standard OSB and asphalt shingles. Neighborhood would frown on me for mounting an antenna outside. Cable is RG6, approximately 70ft, 2 couplers. Would split to 2 TVs only. I pretty much have a clear view where the antenna needs to be pointed.

I tried a Clearstream 2V w/ Antennacraft 30db booster and get channel 3 NBC and 5 ABC with 90+ SS, other channels are 40-55% SS, WOIO19 is AWOL.

Appreciate any input!

Aim the HD7698P antenna at about 214 degree magnetic compass direction.

Here is how to aim antenna , http://www.kyes.com/antenna/pointing/pointing.html.

Use a Real and Actual magnetic compass to aim antenna.

The 214 magnetic compass aim direction is to improve reception of the weak signal strength WVPX-TV , ION TV.

As always , the starting antenna aim direction is the --> starting antenna aim direction.

The antenna aim direction can be adjusted for best reception.

Most Digital Tv's have a Signal Strength Meter and Some Digital Tv's also have a Signal Quality Meter.

Initial results are only marginally better than the 2V. Haven't had a chance to really sweep direction from 214 to 241, but so far WOIO-19 is still awol at about 241. That is really the weak station I definitely would like to grab, not too interested in WPVX--ION. All of the other majors are strong, 8 (Fox) is somewhat weak (60s SS) and as mentioned , 19 is awol

Hopefully I will have a chance tomorrow to mess around a bit more in the attic. Man that HD7698 is big!

As always , attics and the inside of buildings Are Not a reception friendly environment and Never Will Be a reception friendly environment.

--------

Digital Tuners can develop - Digital Glitches - that are not cleared out with simple channel scans.

To clear tuner do Double Rescan.

Mounted antenna in a different location, got all the channels I was hoping for! WOIO-19 comes in at about 70% during the day, but am noticing a substantial drop (50%) at night. Any ideas?

Buy the ronard antenna mounts at , http://www.amazon.com , or , http://www.ronard.com .

---------------

As always , trees and tree leaves , plants and plant leaves , have a Negative Effect on Broadcast Tv Reception and so do buildings and other obstruction including your own roof and building.

Some and not all Negative Effects are.

Absorbing and Blocking Reception.

Multi-Path Reflecting Tv Signals Bouncing All Around.

The Best Practice for Reliable Reception is to install the antenna ay a location that has the least amount to no amount of obstructions of any type or kind in the directions of reception including your own roof and building.
