Newbie Antenna setup

I am new to the OTA world and this forum. I am trying to figure out what the best antenna would be for my location. I plan to mount to the eve of the house with a 3 foot mast that I already mounted. (I purchased a Lava HD-8008 omnipro multi directional) I setup the Lava antenna and tested the reception, but I wasn't very happy with the constant signal freeze. I read information in the forums that didn't rate the Lava antennas very well, so I have removed it and returned it. I am hoping to get the as many channels as available. I have a Tivo series 3 that I plan to use to receive the channels and then connect to my HD TV. The preamp of the Lava was probably overloaded by your strongest signals.

I suggest you try the Antennas Direct C2V antenna, no preamp.

The loops will pick up UHF channels, real channels 14-51. Aim north.

The dipole will pick up VHF-High channels 13, 11, and 9.

Use the TiVo diagnostics screen to monitor signal strength, SNR, and uncorrected errors to help you adjust the antenna.

If the antenna is outside, the coax shield should be grounded with a grounding block that is connected to the house electrical system ground with 10 gauge copper wire for electrical safety and to reject interference. For further compliance with the electrical code (NEC), the mast should also be grounded in a similar manner to drain any buildup of static charge, but the system will not survive a direct strike.

You have some strong local FM signals that might interfere with TV reception.

If so, insert an FM filter in the coax.

Thank you for the information Rabbit73. I will purchase the new antenna and grounding equipment and once I get it set up I will post how things are looking.
