Antenna Recommendations

Hello,

I was directed to come here from another site to get input on what I would need for an antenna (and anything else like amp, pre amp) at my location.

Have 2 TV's that I would like to hook up.

Looking to get all the major networks in both UHF and VHF as well as 1 VHF-LO channel WKOB-LD 2 (42.1) if possible.

Wanting to put antenna in attic, but if roof is necessary will go there.

Attics Are Not a reception friendly environment and Never Will be a reception friendly environment.

The Tv transmissions in the Green and Yellow reception zones of the Pending Applications Included Digital Channels list of the tvfool report to the , east / south east , are strong signal strength at your location.

Yes you can start with a Winegard HD7000R - with no preamplifier - in the attic aimed at about 110 degree magnetic compass direction.

If there are some reception issues with some channels (as there usualy is with Tv antennas in the attic) then move the HD7000R antenna to above the roof.
No preamplifier will be used with the HD7000R antenna above the roof.

For 1 Tv connected use no splitter.

For 2 Tv's connected use a common simple 2 way splitter.

Most of the Tv transmissions are Strong Signal Strength at your location , a preamplifier will most likely be overloaded and make the reception worse.

Attics are a -close in - environment that has many signal reflections - multipath - , multipul up on multipul signal reflections bouncing around in the attic do not help reception.

A preamplifier makes multipath signal reflections worse buy amplifing the signal reflections and this does not help reception.

As always trees and tree leaves do a real fine job of reducing or blocking Tv reception and so do buildings and other obstructions including your own house.

It is best to install a antenna in such a manner that there is least amount to no amount of obstructions in the directions of reception including your own house.

The Tv/s Must Channel Scan for the Digital Broadcast Tv Channels , some times named the 'Air Channels' or 'Antenna Channels' in the Tv setup menu because the Tv transmissions travel through the air from the transmitting antenna to the receiving antenna.

DO NOT channel scan for cable tv channels.
