Hello I would like get a back up system for my current setup. I plan on installing
my antenna on a detached garage approximately 75 feet from where my tv is. After reading some posts this would give me the best obstruction free view towards the nyc area any help and or comments would be appreciated. thanks

I reverse engineered your location to close to your location.
The Tv reception is Very Weak of signal strength for the NYC transmitters.
And as I suspected , due to terrain hills between your location and the transmitters at NYC , a lower antenna height then 25 feet is better for reception.
This often happens over distance and hills.
The signals are weak at distance and tend to bend downward as the signals cross the hilly terrain.
So lower antenna height of 10 feet or so is better for reception.
The NYC Tv transmissions are Weak signal strength.
Install a Winegard HD7084P antenna with a Kitz Tech KT-200 remote power amplifier booster.
The KT-200 remote power amplifier booster provides the flexibility to install the booster unit outside or inside.
Aim the HD7084P antenna at about , 225 degree magnetic compass direction.
Here is how to aim antennas , http://www.kyes.com/antenna/pointing/pointing.html.
Here are some antenna mounts , http://www.ronard.com/909911.html , http://www.ronard.com/34424560.html , http://www.ronard.com/ychim.html , http://www.ronard.com.
Buy the ronard antenna mounts at solidsignal by typing the word ronard in the solidsignal search box.
Here are some places to buy antennas and etc. , http://www.solidsignal.com , http://www.amazon.com , http://www.kitztech.com.
As always , trees and tree leaves do a real fine job of reducing or blocking Tv reception and so do buildings and other obstructions.
It is best to install the antenna at a location that has the least amount to no amount of obstructions of any type or kind in the directions of reception.
The Tv Must Channel Scan for the Digital Broadcas Tv Channels , sometimes nimed the 'Air Channels' or 'Antenna Channels' in the Tv setup menu because the Tv transmissions travel through the air from the transmitting antenna the the receiving antenna.
DO NOT channels scan for cable tv channels.

Thanks for the info. I find it interesting that a lower height would work out
better. Kind of goes against everything I thought and was taught but that's
why I ask questions to those of you who know.
