I'm having a tough time picking an antenna that will work best in my situation. I'm in very rural North Carolina, on a mountainside, surrounded by trees. I'm currently using a homemade, DIY-type antenna. I'm able to pick up a few channels; ABC in HD as well as standard, WMYA, and three PBS channels. I would like to be able to pull in NBC and CBS if at all possible. I'm pretty flexible on installation options; attic, roof, even a tall tree if need be. Here's the link to my report:

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Your report is for 20'

Since you are flexable on mounting options, extra height may make a huge difference.

Please run your report at 40' and 60'

To see if signal strengths improve with more antenna height , please make 2 more tvfool radar plot map reports , 40 and 60 feet antenna heights.

My report at 40' is

http://www.tvfool.com/?option=com_wrapper&Itemid=29&q=id%3d990087c94563d9

and at 60'

I wanted to add that we do have a pretty clear LOS to the southeast, but a ridge essentially blocks everything to the west and north.
Thanks again for all the help. I'll take a look at the Winegard.

The Tv stations that you will receive are from about 57 to 102 degree magnetic compass direction , east north to a little past east , east and a little south.

Form 20 to 40 feet there is not much improvement in signal strength , even so it Is Better to have the antenna higher then 20 feet.

There is a little better improvement of signal strength at 60 feet.

If this were my house I would shoot for 40 feet or higher.

I am changing the antenna to a bigger antenna , HD7698P antenna , a bigger antenna means more reception.

At first I recommended a HD7696P antenna because I thought you might put the antenna in a pine tree , the HD7698P is smaller and would not whip around as much in a tree as a HD7698P antenna would.

So now that you have a clearer view to the east north to east south. I am recommending the HD7698P antenna.

Mount the HD7698P antenna up high and I believe the listed Tv stations will be received.

As always , trees and tree leaves do a real fine job of reducing or blocking Tv reception and so do buildings and other obstructions.

It is best to install/mount the antenna where there is the least amount to no amount of obstructions in the direction of reception.

The Tv/s Must Channel Scan for the Digital Broadcast Tv Channels , sometimes named the 'Air Channels' or 'Antenna Channels' in the Tv setup menu because the Tv transmissions travel through the air from the transmitting antenna to the receiving antenna.

DO NOT channel scan for cable tv channels.

One more issue.

W47DY REAL Digital UHF channel 47 , FOX TV.

Is signal strengths of minus - 11.8 NM(dB) at 20 feet antenna height.

Minus -10.1 NM(dB) at 40 feet antenna height.

Minus -7.5 NM(dB) at 60 feet antenna height.

60 feet is the best by a small amount.

The signal strength numbers put the reception with in reach , it will be interesting to see how the reception works out.

I think the station will be reliably received.
