Antenna for Attic install

Hi,

I want to install antenna in attic above garage. It's about 13 to 15" above ground.

Wood frame house, asphalt shingle roof, no insulation in roof.

It sounds as if your attic construction may be less problematic than some. I'd use an Antennacraft HBU-33. If the attic proves to be a poor reception site, the HBU type antenna can be refolded and placed outdoors.

Try this with no amplifier. Only if you are driving long runs of cable to more than four tuners would I expect you to possibly need amplification.

Start with the antenna pointing NW and fine tune the aim point from there.

Thanks. I'm concerned that the 80 - 85 boom length will be an attic install poblem.

The Current Tv Channels that are being Transmitted and Received in the , USA , Canada , Mexico , are.

VHF low band channels 2 thru 6.

VHF high band channels 7 thru 13.

UHF band channels 14 thru 51.

Your reception location Currently has receivable Tv channels in the , VHF high band and UHF band.

Look at the Green and Yellow reception zones of the Current Plus Pending Applications Included Channel List and Radar Report.

Look at the Channel List and see the ==Channels== , Real and (vert) virtual numbers.

Real channels are what is/are Transmitted and Received.

Real channels are what are received by a Tv antenna.

(virt) virtual numbers are Not Real Channels even if the (virt) number is the same as the Real Channel.

Tv Antennas Receive Real Channels.

The HBU33 is a VHF high band channels and UHF band channels design.

Tv antennas such as and not limited to the HBU33 antenna receive the best in the forward direction , the forward direction is the direction the antenna is aimed.

Directional antennas such as and not limited to the HBU33 antenna also receive a little less at front angles to the antenna

Less at back angles the the antenna

Less at the back of the antenna

And receive the least amount of signal directly on the sides of the antenna.

If a picture of the HBU33 antenna is placed on the Tvfool radar map and the antenna is aimed at the weaker tv stations to the South West , at 230 degree magnetic compass direction.

You will see that Many More Tv Stations and Channels will be received because the HBU33 antenna is aimed at the Weaker signal strength Tv stations and the Stronger signal strength Tv Stations and Channels to the West and North West will be received at angles to the HBU33 antenna.

Because the Tv stations to the South West are weaker signal strength the UBH33 antenna will be installed Above the Peak of the Roof so that the reception is not , obstructed , impeded , blocked , by the roof and building in the directions of , South West , West , North West , North , North East.

As always , trees and tree leaves , plants and plant leaves , have a Negative Effect on Broadcast Tv Reception and so do buildings and other obstructions including your own roof and building.

Absorbing and Blocking Reception.

Multi-Path Reflecting Tv Signals Bouncing All Around.

The Best Practice for Reliable Reception is to Install the HBU33 antenna at a location that has the least amount to no amount of obstructions of any type or kind in the directions of reception including your own roof and building in the directions of reception.

The DB8E and CS4 will not give you much if any coverage of real channels 7 through 13, and they'll be quite directional, possibly to the point of leaving you with less reception of available UHF signals.

(The DB8E can be adjusted to broaden the forward beam though. If you opt for this route, you could add a H-VHF antenna such as the Antennacraft Y5713. A UHF/VHF combiner would be needed.)

All but one channel (13) we would watch are UHF and 13 (CBS) has another cUHF station (47).

If WGSI, real CH-11, WGSC, real CH-8, WHMC, real CH-9, WBTW, real CH-13 and WITV, real CH-7 all land on your 'don't care list', then forgo the H-VHF capability and use a UHF only antenna.

If you change your mind later, you can always add a H-VHF antenna and UHF/VHF combiner.
