trying for more channels

looking at my fool report for my location all it is showing me picking up is 5 channels.
I did move the cursor to the east and to the west both higher ground as we are located in a valley....i could not beleive the difference.
I recently bought a 30 foot tower of an individual , bought a new tilt style mount and now i am looking for an antenna that could possibly help me yield more channels .
I am currently looking at the "STACKER" antenna and also the Channel Master 3671 plus a rotor and possibly a preamp.
My goal is to try to receive some of the stations located in Indianapolis, but living in this valley is the only stumbling block.
any suggestions would be appreciated.
This first one is from 10 foot.

This one is from 50 foot

And finally 70 feet.

I hate to say it, but moving out of that valley is likely to be the only thing that actually improves real reception.

well there is no chance of me moving out of the valley.
I kinda figured there is little to no hope of yielding more channels
than what i currently receive.
But i dont give up so easily, so i am going to mount up my tower , give this thing a shot.
Does anyone have any good suggestions on what antenna i should use to try
this , as i stated i was looking at the STACKER antenna , and the Channelmaster
model 3671.
I figure i really have nothing to loose and more to gain.
My current setup is an old and beat up antenna (dont know what make or model) it came with the tower.
It took quite a beating when the tower was knocked over and just playing around , i tried to bend back the flattened back elements--breaking one.
Its kinda pathetic looking -but i works a heck of alot better than that little "150 mile " antenna i bought online i was able to get 5 stations but they would break up unless i had it rotated just right and that was no guarentee .
With the broken and bent one i have hooked up now it is stationary
and picks up all 5 perfectly.
So what i am saying in short is what more could i get with a new and better performing model and what would be a good one to try.
With the 600 plus channels i am receiving with my 3-free-to-air satellite dishes--this is just a bonus.

Neither of the models you mentioned are good matches for your area as both have useless low-VHF elements. Pick a large high-VHF/UHF antenna with a quality low-noise, medium gain pre-amp.

There are only four digital stations shown on your list that are likely receivable - WHTI, WTWO, & WAWV to your south from Terre Haute plus one to your northwest from Danville (WICD, rotor required).

There is no reasonable prospect of any other stations, including Indianapolis, being received in a reliable manner.

Approach your project with realistic expectations.

I currently receive all those channels you mentioned-----with no rotor ----and a beat up pathetic looking excuse of an antenna.
I currently receive
2-1 WTWO
10-1 WTHI
10-2 WTHI
15-1 WICD (NO ROTOR) VERY RELIABLE SIGNAL
38-1 WAWV
Well at least you are telling me that i can receive stations from my location, ANTENNA WEB.ORG said there were no stations predicted for this location.
O.k so you gave me the the type of antenna to get-----what make---model would be a good choice.
I know your info is based on my fool report---i suppose antenna web.org was going by the same info.
Well if i have any gain in stations i will be more than happy to post my results.

Antennaweb uses an extraordinarily conservative estimation of reception.

The 8200 has excellent performance, but has low band VHF capability that you do not need. Consider a 7-51 antenna such as the HD7698P.

Looks like,

WTHI-DT , Real VHF high band Digital channel 10 , (virt) virtual number (10.1) , CBS and Fox and MyNetwork.

WTWO-DT , Real UHF band Digital channel 36 , (virt) virtual number (2.1) , NBC.

WAWV-TV , Real UHF band Digital channel 39 , (virt) virtual number (38.1) , ABC.

WICD-DT , Real UHF band Digital channel 41 , (virt) , virtual number (15.1) , ABC.

are it unless you will go higher then 100 feet above ground with a Tv antenna.

--------------------------------------------

I know that All PBS Networks and many other Networks are on FTA.

Is there anybody in your valley getting stations you want? What other antennas do you see?

How far are you from the ridge?

Well looking around where I live , there are different antennas
Most if not all are probably not in use.
A lot of empty towers .
And as for the ridge its about 2 miles to the east.
And one on the west side is about a block from my location.

Weird thought IF a person had a high gain UHF antenna in good shape there are those that try to receive the "bounced" signal. In your case pointing West to receive Indy (East). Slim odds and would likely be an unreliable signal.

Thanks for the idea........may try it if all else fails.
Now I am trying to find the right antenna.
Will be mounting the tower this weekend (weather permitting).

well after doing a little research , and suggestions
i am looking at the HD7698P and the CM3020.
What would be the better choice for my experiment and location?
As by looking around the area most of the antennas i have seen
have the same look as the CM3020.
without climbing individual towers and roofs.

You do not need an antenna with any elements wider than 3'. That eliminates the 3020 or any other wide antenna.

The 7698 or HBU55 combo antennas are one option or you could go with a two antenna combo of a 91XG plus a 10-element Antennacraft high-VHF unit, stacked vertically with a 4' separation.

Install a , Antennas Direct , DB8e antenna , aim 1 panel at about 318 degree magnetic compass direction.

Aim the other panel of the DB8e antenna at about 189 degree magnetic compass direction.

CS600 antenna aimed at about 189 degree magnetic compass direction.

Here is how to aim antennas , http://www.kyes.com/antenna/pointing/pointing.html.

Use a Real and Actual magnetic compass to aim antennas , do not trust a cell phone , tablet and etc. compass.

Connect the DB8e and CS600 antennas together on to 1 coax with a , UVSJ = UHF/VHF - Separator/Joiner.

Connect the DB8e antenna to the UHF connection of the UVSJ.

well its been awhile, finally started playing around with my setup.
i purchased the DB8e and the CS600.
Currently sitting about 25 feet up.
after a little adjusting i done a scan----1 CHANNEL. WHAT.........
got home from work tonite scanned again and to my surprise 9 CHANNELS
WOW.......
2-1 WTWO
6-1 WRTV
6-2 HTSN
6-3 LWN
29-1 WTTK
29-2 WTTK
38-1 WAWV
40-1 WHME
40-2 WHMB
so maybe there is a little hope for me.
now i know these are coming in due to the clouds ,last nite was clear,
and these may be "seasonal" due to no leaves.
but on the other hand i am still at only 25 feet, this spring i am going to put the other tier in my tower that will bump me to 35 feet.
also i am considering a pre amp and possibly another setup.
any other suggestions?
so far i am suprised---also i am really leaning to put a rotor on my setup.
