Here is a place to start with FTA-ST = Free To Air Satellite Tv.

http://www.ftalist.com.

Here is a High Quality FTA-ST Receiver.

http://www.manhattan-digital.net.

Both the , FTA List web site and Manhattan web site have links to more information.

And there is much information on the internet.

-------

The KU-Band Satellite Frequencies are higher signal power then the C-band , and the KU-Band is received with Much Smaller Dishes then the 6 to 12 foot C-Band dishes.

Even so , It is best to use a Small Dish that is Bigger diameter then minimum size of small dish.

Because the , Bigger diameter - Small Dish , will provide Reliable Reception by collecting more signal.

And is best to have the motorized dish to receive multipul satellites.

-----------------

The programing/channels are Free To Receive , so what is Free to Receive is Free to Receive and that is the way it is.

Free is Good.

I do, I do! Not sure if you are going to check back here, but I LOVE my FTA. I have it pointed at Galaxy 19- here's a list of channels (radio & TV) http://www.lyngsat.com/Galaxy-19.html

It is way worth it. What the dish and cable co.s charge just for one of those channels is robbery. You will get a lot of foreign programming, but they're so fun- especially the commercials! There used to be a show on Qatar TV called "Win Your Weight In Gold" that's right, win your weight in bars of gold. The contestants would come on and get on a scale. It was cute watching those Arab women with their covered up garb get weighed. The MC would have a girl come out with a wheeled cart carrying big bars of real gold for the prizes. It was like "Who Wants To Be A Millionaire" but winning GOLLLLLlllllld. Oh man, it took me at least 25 minutes just to scroll down the list of TV channels. There are TONS of radio stations, some you may be familiar with that run on streaming on the web, like those "Freedom" type stations (tea party, liberty, guns type stuff) a lot of religious, ethnic, and foreign stuff. Imagine tuning to an Afghani drummin' pop station. Hey, that music is catchy. FTA tv is THE best kept secret. I have no idea why these haven't taken off like popcorn especially with all the people "pulling the plug" on pay TV.

It Is Awesome!!! check out the channel list. Galaxy 19 is one satellite with the most and varied free OTA channels, but if you get a motorized system you can get more satellites. IF you get FTA, you will never complain about not having anything to watch. The novelty never wore off.

It was worth it in one day during 9/11, because we got the news from foreign stations way before the editors in USA mangled things before they showed them to us. What I mean is, you got stuff straight as it happened, before producers and businessmen decided what you SHOULD be hearing.

Get the FTA. Good investment.
