New to antenna. Need advice on best config.

Hi All,

I recently cut the cable and picked up the following antenna:

http://www.walmart.com/ip/RCA-Suburb...-Mast/10828410

Here is a link to my tvfool report:

http://www.tvfool.com/?option=com_wr...8e03d9fde6536e

Based on the report I pointed my antenna at 355 degrees. It is about 15 feet above the ground on the north facing side of the house and I have an 8 way splitter/amp boosting the signal by 3.5 db.

I am happy with the reception I am getting (I get about 25 channels and between 60% to 90% signal quality with most channels being 80% and above) but I want to be sure I am getting the best I can.

I am new to this and would like to know if there is anything I can do to improve the number of channels I am getting. Only caveat is I can't go any higher with the antenna but I am open to exchanging it for a different one that may work better.

Thanks for any advice you can offer.

How about listing the stations you do get?

You should be getting pretty much all the stations from the northwest, perhaps as far westerly as WSOC, all the way around to just east of due north to WUNG. If you're getting all those, you're probably done.

It's not very likely that you'd be getting the stations from the west as they're relatively weak and your antenna has a fairly moderate amount of rejection off the sides.

Hi ADTech,

I currently get the following:
WSOC-DT (9.1)
WBTV (3.1)
WCNC-DT (36.1)
WJZY-DT (46.1)
WCCB-DT (18.1)
WAXN-TV (64.1)
WMYT-TV (55.1)
WNSC-DT (30.1)
WTVI (42.1)
WUNG-TV (58.1)

My bedroom TV also gets WCEE-LP (16.1) but not the living room
I think I'm done

You could try aiming at Greenville and see if you can pick them up while still getting Charlotte off the side. Experiment only.... Long shot.

Have fun!

I did notice that the following 2 stations appear to be within range of me based on my antenna and angle:

WDMC-LD 25.1 DAY
RF Channel: 25
24 miles at 9°

WCEE-LP 16 TBN
RF Channel: 16
24 miles at 9°

Curious as to why I can't get these. Are they not powerful enough? Looks like they are about as powerful as the PBS stations I do pick up. Also, the bedroom tv does get WCEE but not the living room. Any ideas?

Thanks,

Ken
