I need advise

I moved to New Bedford, MA 02740. We have a cable contract until next December but would like to dump the cable contract and install a antenna on the roof. I have no idea how to read this and also would like some advice on a good antenna, amp, and etc.
My house is small, one floor, so I could install a mast on the chimney. The house is on a hill with no trees in my yard. We have 4 TV's now and would like to connect all of them.

If you're not blocked by trees or neighboring buildings, an RCA ANT-751R would do quite well. Start with it pointed at about 345° per a compass.

I would try running with no amplifier. Use a passive 4-way splitter (the cable company likely has already installed one, so once the cable has been completely disconnected, the cables and splitter in or on your home would be yours to re-use. If you have trouble with signal levels, a Channel Master CM-3410 distribution amplifier can be added.

A Simple reception situation.

Above the roof in such a manner that the reception is not blocked buy the roof and house in the directions of , north east , north , north west.

Install a Winegard HD7696P antenna aimed at about 345 degree magnetic compass direction. Here is how to aim antennas , http://www.kyes.com/antenna/pointing/pointing.html.

Here are some above the roof antenna mounts.

http://www.ronard.com/909911.html. If using a tripod antenna mount , I suggest use the 5 foot antenna mount.

http://www.ronard.com/34424560.html. If using the eave antenna mount , I suggest use the #4560.

http://www.ronard.com/ychim.html.

http://www.ronard.com.

Buy the ronard antenna mounts at solidsignal by typing the word ronard in the soildsignal search box or buy from ronard.

Here are some places to buy antennas and etc. , http://www.solidsignal.com , http://www.amazon.com , http://www.winegarddirect.com.

For 1 Tv connected use No splitter.

For 2 Tv's connected use a simple common 2 way splitter.

For 3 Tv's connected use a simple common 3 way splitter.

For 4 Tv's connected use a simple common 4 way splitter.

I suspect that with the larger HD7696P antenna , a amplifier will not be required.

However if as an example. At the bottom of the Yellow reception zone/list of Digital Tv channels of the tvfool , Pending Applications Included Digital channel list ,

WSBE-DT REAL UHF Digital channel 21 , virtual number (36.1) PBS.

WUTF-DT REAL UHF Digital channel 27 , virtual number (66.1) Tel.

Are not received on all 4 Tv's , then in place of the 4 way splitter install a Channel Master CM3414 distribution amplifier.

As always , trees and tree leaves do a good job of , reflecting , reducing , blocking , Digital Broadcast Tv reception and so do buildings and other obstructions including your own roof and house.

It is best to install the HD7696P antenna at a location that has the least amount to no amount of obstructions of any type or kind in the directions of reception including your own roof and house.

The Tv's Must channel Scan for the OTA=Over The Air , Digital Broadcast Tv stations/channels , often named the the 'Air Channels or 'Antenna Channels in the Tv setup menu because the Tv transmissions travel through yhe air from the transmitting antenna to the receiving antenna.

Some Digital tv's will automatic channel scan for cable tv channels.

DO NOT channel scan for cable tv channels.

Go into the Tv setup menu and select , 'Air Channels' / 'Antenna Channels'.
