New TV, can't get any channels

Hi, I just bought a new RCA TV, and hooked it up to an indoor (non-powered) antenna, and I only get a few channels.

I live in Chicago, 60614, and I don't get 32, 11, 2, and only a couple channels come in well. I'm not sure what's going on... if I need a stronger antenna or if there's something wrong with my new tv. When I used to live a little north of the city, I used a similar set-up on my room-mates TV, and we got all the channels. So I also don't know if it's just the area, or my proximity to other buildings.

I'm basically just wondering if it could be a problem with my TV, or if there's something I can do to get better reception?

The TV is a RCA HDTV, 37LA45RQ, if that helps at all.

My first 'knee-jerk' reaction is to ask if you have set the tuner to 'air' mode... as opposed to 'cable' mode. The digital signal format of cable signals is different than that used for over-the-air DTV broadcasting. RCA 37LA45RQ Manual (pp 20) Thanks for the model number, that does help.

Based on your ZIP Code I'll be surprised if you need a large antenna. But it would help if you could post a link to your TV Fool report. Guidelines when asking for help

Yes. It's set to air mode. I get 5 just fine, and a couple of the spanish-speaking channels, 38 is touch and go, and so is 7.

Here's a link to my report: http://www.tvfool.com/?option=com_wr...ec1296cd3463bc

There are a few mid- to high-rises somewhat near me (across the street, down a few houses).

Do the TV Fool radar plot and post a link to it.

Are you in a single house, apartment/condo...?

What type antenna are you using?

Are you using any sort of amplifier, separate or built in to the antenna?

I'm using a $15 antenna I just bought from best buy. http://www.bestbuy.com/site/RCA+-+UH...enna&cp=1&lp=5

I live in a 4-flat brownstone apartment building.

I'm not sure if this is the map you're talking about: http://www.tvfool.com/?option=com_wr...ec12fce96a9ab8
