New Antenna - Deep Fringe

Hi! I am looking to put up an antenna to add the low powered channels 14-29 if possible. I currently get 10, 17, & 19 great using just my travel trailer antenna and built in amp, but ABC, CBS, and PBS an hour ahead just don't hack it for me. I will put the antenna up about 15-20' right now at my rental house, and put up a 30+ tower when I buy a house (I realize my numbers/angles will change a bit when I move but it shouldn't be a big change). So far I have kind of narrowed it down to the Winegard 8800 or 9032, or the Antenna Direct 91XG as it sounds like they are the best for UHF reception, but am open to anything. Everything I find says these are the best for UHF, but have found alot of mixed reviews over what is the best specifically at the low-uhf range I actually care about (even on these forums). Other concerns I have is how it will work for also getting the 3 stronger signals to the east (including vhf ch. 10), and the high winds and frequent hail we get around here. Thanks!

From both of your TV Fool reports: WARNING: Address was only resolved to city level and might not be that close to your actual location. For more accurate results, try entering a specific address or coordinates.

The Interactive TV Maps allow you to move a marker to your exact antenna location, then generate a report. This method may produce better or at least, more accurate data.

The 91XG or Winegard HD9095P would be my choice. I would also use either of the Antennas Direct preamplifiers, PA-18 or CPA-19. Pointed at 331° compass, it looks as if you'll have a very clean shot at the group of translators.

If the translators don't carry a duplicate of the signals to your east, a two antenna system is possible. http://forum.tvfool.com/showthread.php?t=2882

http://www.3starinc.com/ & http://www.solidsignal.com/c/product...ennas-supplies are good sources for mounting hardware.

Thanks groundurmast! All three sets of channels come from different cities. I definitely want the eastern channels still (I get them now from my camper antenna), are they strong enough to get off the side of the new antenna pointed to the north? I read that the bowties don't lose signal as much in the wind (its very windy here) will this be an issue with the yagi? What about durability for wind & hail?

Also, if I wanted to try the channels to the south-southwest would this same setup be the best?

I lived in northern Colorado for 12 years at Fort Lupton Colorado.
I have been through and to Burlington and the surrounding area many times , nice and flat area.

For a one antenna solution of reception of the Colorado repeater Tv stations to the north west and the Kansas repeater stations to the east.

Install a Antennas Direct , Clear Stream 4 UHF antenna - with a Antennas Direct CPA-19 preamp - aimed at about 300 degree magnetic compass direction.

The 300 degree aiming direction is a in between aim direction so the front and back of the antenna is aim in the directions of north west and east.

Here is how to aim antennas , http://www.kyes.com/antenna/pointing/pointing.html.

The Kansas Tv stations , KBSL CBS and KWKS PBS are strong signal strength and will most likely be received through the back side of the antenna , KLBY ABC is weaker of signal strength and may not be received through the back side of the antenna.

If not and you will like to receive KLBY then remove a reflector screen from the antenna. Standing at the back of the antenna , facing the reflector screen remove the right side reflector screen. Removal of the reflector screen will let more signal get to the reception loops from the Kansas repeater stations.

Here is what is on the Colorado repeater stations.

K14LB-D UHF channel 14 , FOX and Antenna Tv.

K16EK-D UHF channel 16 , CBS.

K18FO-D UHF channel 18 , CBS and PBS and ABC and NBC.

K20HM-D , UHF channel 20 , PBS.

K22CQ-D , UHF channel 22 , NBC and Local Weather.

K24EZ-D , UHF channel 24 , MyNetwork and Me-Tv.

K26FP-D , UHF channel 26 , ABC and Azteca America.

K29HD-D , 29 , PBS , and MyNetwork and FOX and CW and IND. .

Thanks teleview! Wow you caught me off-guard with the ClearStream4 recommendation.. never even seen that one before. I do like the one antenna setup... but do you think it will pick up the low power translators just as good or would I really be better off with 2 different antennas? Obviously I would like just one, but its not worth a sacrifice to my reception. What about its performance and durability for wind and hail?

Also, what if I wanted to try to get the Colorado Springs translators signals from the south instead... would this work well for that too or would I need something like the XG91, or is it out of my range either way? Thanks again.

If not interested in the Kansas Repeater Tv stations then aim the Clear Stream 4 at about 332 degree magnetic compass direction.

If will like to use a Separate antenna to receive the Kansas repeater Tv stations then use the travel trailer antenna or install a second Clear Stream 4 antenna aimed at about 87 degree magnetic compass direction. I do not think a antenna amplifier will be required with the second Clear Stream 4 aimed at the Kansas repeaters but if required use a CPA-19 preamp.

The 2 antenna systems are Separate antenna systems and are not connected together on to one coax.

The 2 separate antenna systems are separate all the way to the location/s of the Tv/s and be connected to a Remote control A/B antenna switch at each Tv location. http://www.radioshack.com , #15-1968 , or , http://www.mcmelectronics.com , #32-4425 .
___________________________

As always , trees and tree leaves do a real fine job of reducing or blocking Tv reception and so do buildings or other obstructions.

It is best to install the antenna/s at a location that has the least amount to no amount of obstructions in the directions of reception.

The Tv/s Must Channel Scan for the Digital Broadcast Tv Channels , sometimes named the 'Air Channels' or 'Antenna Channels' in the Tv setup menu because the Tv transmissions travel through the air from the transmitting antenna to the receiving antenna.

DO NOT channel scan for cable tv channels.

Thanks teleview. Not sure where your reply I got in my email went, but it sounds good. I won't worry about the southern ones, I was just curious because my wife likes Colorado Springs news. Thanks again!
