Tv Reception.

Is this a , house , town home , condo , apartment , mobile home , motor home , or , etc. ??

What directions are the windows??

What directions are the patios/balconies??

If a house , etc. , 1 story , 2 story ??

If a apartment and etc. , What floor?? , What is the top floor?

The radar plot report that you provided is the default 10 feet antenna height.

Please make a radar plot reports with antenna heights of , 25 , 40 , 60 , feet.

How many Tv's are/will be connected??

It's a house but the antenna will go in the attic on the first level which is why I entered only 10 feet. There are 5 tv's that will be connected. It's weird because the other 4 old tv's come in pretty good but the new larger lcd tv in the family room is the one having all the trouble. Maybe because it has a long coax cable. I'm not sure.

What antenna are you using now?

If I was faced with the weak signal conditions shown in your TV Fool report, I would install a Winegard HD7698P and Antennas Direct PA-18 or CPA-19 preamplifier... outside, high, clear of obstructions.

The path profile for KSBY and K16FC indicate there are several high hills blocking your view of the transmitters. An attic installation is going to reduce an already very weak signal.

Tv Reception.

The signal strengths of these Tv stations channels are Very Weak at the 10 feet antenna height.

K16FC-D UHF channel 16 , Independent , Community Educational television.

KKFX-CA UHF channel 24 , FOX.

K57BC UHF channel 31 , ABC and MyTvNetwork and RTV Retro Tv Network.

If you will like to have a shot at receiving them please post those tvfool reports with requested antenna heights of , 25 feet , 40 feet , 60 feet.

To see if signal strengths come up enough to make them receivable.

25 feet - http://www.tvfool.com/?option=com_wr...990029535e2df8

40 feet - http://www.tvfool.com/?option=com_wr...9900a455ede049

60 feet - http://www.tvfool.com/?option=com_wr...9900ef737a47f3

Currently there is a cheap radio shack rabbit ear type set up. I'm ok with getting just ksby but I want it to come in and stay in. If we could actually get more channels that would be great. Thanks again for your input

Tv Reception.

I changed the preamp to the Channel Master CM7777 preamp.

For reception of.

KSBY-DT UHF digital channel 15 , NBC and The CW.

K16FC-D UHF digital channel 16 , Community Educational Television.
______________________

And maybe , KKFX-CA UHF digital channel 24 , FOX.
________________

Install above the roof or some where in the clear a Winegard HD9095P antenna with a Channel Master CM7777 preamp.

Aimed at about 145 degree magnetic compass direction.

Going higher then 25 feet antenna height does not improve signal strengths.

15 to 25 feet will be fine.

The main point is , trees and tree leaves and buildings and attics and other obstructions are to be avoided for reception in the direction of about 145 degree magnetic compass.

___________________________________________

Install the preamp close to the antenna and the power supply/power injector before any splitters.

Connect a 2 way splitter to the pre amplified power supply/power injector output.

One output of the 2 way splitter will be connected to the longest run of coax cable.

The other output of the 2 way splitter is connected to a 4 way splitter that then connects to the other 4 Tv's.

I was thinking about this one
WINEGARD HD-8800 UHF High-Gain 8-Bay Bow-Tie HDTV Antenna
and this
Winegard ANWI8700 Winegard AP Signal Amplifier

since I already get ksby and the cw but they just come in out out with the rabbit ear type antenna that is currently in attic.

There is also similar antenna direct DB8 or the channel master 4228hd but these are more $. Do you think one of these would do the trick?

Tv Reception.

Because the signals are weak.

Because of the 5 Tv's connected.

Every time a splitter split takes the signal is reduced.

I am staying with my recommendation , HD9095P antenna , CM7777 preamp , and etc. .
_____________

You can install the system that you choose.

If reception is Ok , well then Ok.

If not then return the reception equipment for a refund and try again.

_____

You can invite the other advisors to provide evaluations.

I concur with teleview's recommendation.

If you want to shop valid alternatives, then consider an Antennas Direct 91XG. (A direct competitor in terms of size and performance, but it can be tilted slightly. In your case, this may be helpful. You would aim at the top of the ridge that blocks your view of the transmitters.)

An alternative to the CM7777 would be an Antennas Direct PA-18. (A dB or so lower noise... that's not a big difference.)

As teleview has already stated, you'll get better results if you mount outside, clear of obstructions. Mounting in the attic is going to cost you valuable signal strength and put the antenna closer to interference generating motors, lighting fixtures, computers, etc.
