Antennea Suggestion for 23043

Hello, posted in another forum about a year ago and was suggested the 7698P
http://www.tvfool.com/?option=com_wr...da32b606e6716b

I agree with the suggestion I just got laid off shortly after I got that suggestion and in the mean time found that tv fool had more than just a signal anlysis, it had forums!

The stations available to me are
WTKR
WSKY
WAVY
WVEC
WHRO
WTPC/WHRE
WGNT
WTVZ
WVBT
WPXV

I get all of them currently just have to saccrifice wsky to hit the sweet spot to where wpxv comes in reliably. Which makes sense wsky is 70 miles away and over the VA and NC line while the others are in the Great dismal Swamp area of Suffolk/Chesapeake... thats another thing thats holding me back, from what I can tell the 7698 wont have as wide of beam width..so I'd prob not get wsky..which I really probly shouldn't be getting. I'm just lucky.

these are the pics of my antennea
http://i212.photobucket.com/albums/c.../newcam039.jpg My antenna with 2 missing elements and 1 bent one

http://i212.photobucket.com/albums/c.../newcam041.jpg
I'd like to mount it up at the peak. That would get me above the tallest tree with 1 and a half pieces of pipe.

http://i212.photobucket.com/albums/c.../newcam040.jpg
this was where I was pointed a year ago.. since then I got a compass and found out I needed to go about 20 degrees to the right to get it where It should be pointed... Removed a diplexer and splitter since the other room has no tv and thats how I was able to finally recieve wpxv... The diplexer was messing me up... I'm pointed between 190 and 200.. closer to 200 gives wpxv very solid but takes away from wsky sooo I got it in the middle to where wsky comes in a little better.. More height and a solid mount and aim should help me.....

So do you agree with the 7698P? with or without the Pre amp? I've got my peak mount and 2 sections of pipe, I used to install cable so i have bags of PPC EX6's and Quad shield RG6....I'm planning to do a complete rewire with a dedicated antennea line and 2 two my dish for if I decide to get service again and a fourth for a possible second antennea all to a keystone jack at each location.

My last question do you think any of the Richmond stations would be possible with a second antennea and AB switch(seperate line).. because I'm going to turn my current antennea to the north once I get my new one and see what happens....Do you think an Antenneas Direct XG91 would give me any hope of richmond?

http://www.hdtvantennalabs.com/forum...043-t1463.html heres the link to my post in the other forum I give it because it has AntenneaWeb and HDTV Labs reports as well as the TV Fool report from above.. The TV Fool Report is the closest to reality for my location.. The others were way too conservative.... Sorry thsi is so long just wanted to be thorough.

Tv antennas and Tv reception

The default antenna height is 10 feet. Make 3 more radar reports with the antenna heights at , 25 feet , 40 feet , 60 feet.

All of the suggestions and ideas thus far, seem to be 'on track'.

1) A look at the signal conditions at the proposed mounting elevation would be quite helpful. A look at the higher heights cost's only the effort to run the report. Some Richmond signals are receivable... the additional reports will help answer this question with greater certainty.

2) The HD7698P is a valid option.

3) The combination of a 91XG and Y10713 is also quite valid. I lean this direction if it fits your budget.

4) A preamp is needed if you have more than 25' of coax or will split the signal. I favor the Antennas Direct CPA-18 for it's low noise, but other suggestions are also valid.

40 Ft http://www.tvfool.com/?option=com_wr...67d969f82023ab

I'm going to go 7698P for the Norfolk stations..I'm fairly confident based on getting everything on my beat up antennea that it will be fine... It looks like too much added hieght hurts me for wsky.. adding cochannel and adjacent channel interference... and it appears to hurt on some of the richmond channels as well... Richmond is going to be a roll the dice try ..if I can pick anything up then great if not oh well.. mainly only interest in wrlh and wupv(35.1,65.1) the vhf's from Richmond I could care less about..I get those fine from Norfolk...wupv and wrlh have sub channels I like and the PBS in Richmond on 23.1 digital has the create channel on its subchannel with plenty of home improvement shows... so thats another... But the cool thing about where I'm at I can recieve Norfolk with a rooftop antennea and If I get Dish or Direct they give me the Richmond stations for my Locals package so either way I go I can get the best of both worlds...just depends on if I want to pay alot or go out of my way with a complicated antennea set up.... Just figured I'd see if any Richmond locals are possible..... And my current antennea height is probably in the 15 to 20 feet range ...peak of the roof would be around 25 to 30 or higher if I get a telescoping mast but it looks like theres no need really.....

If you would like to add Richmond, I suggest the 91XG UHF antenna with a moderate gain pre-amp.

The only Richmond channel on VHF is NBC-12 & it's signal is problematic in fringe areas for many. I have tried for channel 12 in 2 areas where all the other channels from Richmond have come in quite well, but 12 is barley there or not seen at all most of the time.

Just my 2 cents.

Safely clearing the tree tops buys you more than any other lone factor. You'll gain a dB or two of additional signal, and you'll get up and out of the fluttering, variable foliage attenuation which will go a long way toward maintaining a lock on weaker signals.

Yes putting it at the peak will get me right at the top of the trees and wont be too long a mast 5 feet.....

as far as the 91XG, most of the places I see with two antenneas everyone has one that looks like the 91XG or similer..... and Channel 12 even gives my uncle troubles and he is in Chesterfield about 30 miles from the tower.. 12 is the only one he has to move his antennea to pick up and its not always reliable... so I know about 12...

sounds like I've got some good suggestions, now just need to figure out if I want to get my antennea from Solid Signal or Summit Source. Each one is about the same on the antennea.. its some of the other things I'm gettting that they are different on....

Tv antennas and Tv reception

The main group of tv stations are to the south at about 200 degree magnetic compass. The group has both VHF High band channels 7 thru 13 and UHF channels 14 thru 69 channel ranges. Install a Winegard HD7698P antenna with a Winegard AP8700 preamp aimed at 200 degree magnetic compass. Here is how to aim antennas , http://www.kyes.com/antenna/pointing/pointing.html. Here are some Strong and Sturdy antenna mounts , http://www.ronard.com/909911.html , http://www.ronard.com/34424560.html , http://www.ronard.com/ychim.html , http://www.ronard.com/Tripods%200703/4712.html
