http://www.tvfool.com/?option=com_wr...9e74f731537034

I was thinking of installing a hd7698 and the hdp269 amp
as recommended by this forum.(thanks all)

but I came across the antenna direct's clearstream 4
http://www.antennasdirect.com/store/...V-antenna.html

what are your thoughts on this antenna

i have never seen an antenna like this one
or have i seen one in my town
most of the time i have only seen large combo type antennas

this antenna sure look a lot simpler to install
with a j mast

guys i am 68 and don't want to mess around on the roof
with a roof or eves mount
a j mast on side of my house would be better for me (see house)

if not this antenna how about a db8 or a db4
http://www.antennasdirect.com/store/DB8_HD_Antenna.html

i thank you for your help
i hate to install a huge one if i don't have to
i just want the uhf chan's (2,5,17,30,58) is fine for me

my current antenna believe it or not is a Philips MANT940 UHF
i get (2,5,17) ant 50 % signal strength

Given your interest in UHF only, the CS-4 will do quite well for you. It may look different but it is very similar to the DB-4 electrically. Don't be surprised if you see the high VHF signals as well. Mount it facing SE.

I agree with GUM. The Clear Stream 4 should work fine. Mount the antenna facing S/E at about 131 degree magnetic compass. Here is how to aim antennas , http://www.kyes.com/antenna/pointing/pointing.html. Avoid pointing the antenna through trees if you can. Tree leaves absorb UHF signals more the VHF signals.

clearstream 5

what are your opinions on combining a clearstream 4 and clearstream 5

with their uhf / vhf combiner and then their
CPA-19 pre-amplifier

i don't care to much about the vhf (2 channels 8,4)
but was wondering if it would work

if i am going to blow $200.00 on the kit with the amp
i may as well go all the way

i was wondering because i could use 2 30 inch j masts
on the side of the garage it would make installing easy for me

thanks all

i never knew that their was so much to know to get a tv sigal

Yes it will work , connect the CPA-19 to the output of the UVSJ that comes with the C5. The tv stations are there , may as well receive them. Digital tv stations are adding new digital sub channels. You might not be interested in the programing now but when a new channel is added then you might like that one even though it's a VHF channel. There really is not that much to receiving tv with a tv antenna. What makes the situation more then it really is , is dicing the situation up into smaller parts , when going for the whole is easyer.

Be careful, WSMV is on VHF channel 10 and it's not LOS.

The best UHF only antenna for channel 10 VHF reception is the Channel Master 4228HD
