OTA reception

Just got an OTA antenna that is inside our condo. It is near both an east and south facing window. We are on 3rd floor of brick building- approximately 30 feet off the ground. We are having trouble with WTMJ, 28 (4.1). It comes in strong for a minute or two, then after that it has weak signal and cuts out periodically. Commercials seem to come in just fine without any freezing or cutting out. We have tried moving the antenna around with no luck. Other stations have worked better with very little freezing or cutting out. The link below is our signal analysis report. Looks like it's only 3 miles away, similar to WITI, which we have very little problems with.

Our unit is only south and east facing. We do have a balcony that faces south only. We are on the 3rd floor- there are 6 total floors. What is frustrating to me is why only one station is a continual problem, the others do just fine. Thanks for your help.

Tv Reception.

It is better to put a antenna outside if there is a way to have a antenna face the transmitters. However you have no way to do that so keep the antenna inside.

Your location is about 3 miles from the transmitters. The Tv transmissions are Over The Top Strong.

A amplified indoor type antenna will overload from the strong Tv transmissions and be the cause of bad reception or no reception.

Use a TERK HDTVi non amplified antenna , Do Not use the HDTVa amplified antenna.

Aim the HDTVi antenna at about 0 degrees magnetic compass (north).

Here is how to aim indoor and outdoor antennas. http://www.kyes.com/antenna/pointing/pointing.html.

http://www.solidsignal.com , http://www.amazon.com.

Also use a variable attenuator to - dial down - the signal strength of the over the top strong Tv transmissions.

Model number 1296f .
