A new tuner dramatically helped

I got a Digital to analog converter years ago when the switch was first made. I couldn't get the local CBS affiliate at all even though its transmitter was close to the NBC, ABC, and PBS transmitters and their power output was roughly the same. I figured I just needed a better antenna. But then I bought a Channel Master DVR for its ability to record OTA programs and was amazed that not only could I now get the CBS affiliate but a bunch of other stations that I couldn't before! I didn't change a thing other than the tuner.
I sure am glad I didn't install a better antenna.
