My understanding was that as you increase the number of directors, you "squeeze" the front lobe making distance LONGER and the antenna aiming is more critical due to the narrow lobe!

Have you seen this info yet?
If the well is dry and you don't see rain on the horizon, you'll need to dig the hole deeper. (If the antenna can't get the job done, an amp won't fix it.)
