As you have discovered, there is not an out of the box solution.

I use a Windows 7 PC with a dual tuner card. The software comes with it's own web server to allow you to connect over a network, (both local and internet), and watch just like you were on the TV.

This came in very handy when my company sent me to Mexico for 2 weeks. I could watch all my regular, local shows, even those I'd recorded like the news, etc.

I could add a second card and get the advantage of 4 tuners, but for now 2 is enough.

You could put a setup like this somewhere in the house close to where the RG6enters the house therefore shortening the run and eliminating the splitter. If all your TV's or viewing devices are network enabled.
