I suggest a Winegard HD7694P antenna in the attic, aimed SE. How well it works will depend upon the signal loss from being in the attic, and any obstructions outside like trees or other buildings.

Make a test first with a temporary run of coax before drilling any holes.

If you need a preamp, it can be powered from down below through the same coax that brings the signals down to you.

If it doesn't work in the attic, then go with the gable mount.
