This is the time of year for difficult reception over the border. It's normal.
You probably have a hairline crack in the circuit board inside the DB8 combiner. If the problem comes back, contact customer service for a repair kit.
A 7777 has way too much gain for your signal strengths if you aim the antenna to the west.
