So I tried this amp after trying everything else...given the 7777 preamp and Tablo's internal amp, adding yet another amp to my relatively short cable run should have just added more noise, I think. So I was kind of surprised it worked.

The noise figure of the 7777 primarily determines the System Noise Figure, so the Archer noise was well below the noise floor that was raised by the 7777 amplification.
