I thought I would give an update on how my Solid Signal HDB6X (the cheaper version of the DB8e) has been working through the VERY tough 2015 New England winter we had.
After the Fall leaves fell, some channels like WHDH and WFXT came in very weak and pixelated. I picked up a RCA tvpramp1r and voila, problem solved! I was worried about losing my local VHF channels (one is only 5 miles from me), but no issues. I have never been able to get WLVI, but I don't watch anything on that one, so no big deal for me. Other than that, I was very happy with all the channels I was getting. I was even surprised to get the ION channels (68.1 thru 68.6) from where my trouble spot WHDH and WFXT antennas are.
Then all the tons of snow started falling and I was losing channels. The HOA wasn't shoveling off the multiple feet of snow piling up on the roof

. So I had one of those cheapo silver first aid mylar type emergency blankets and draped it over the back of the antenna. BOOM! All channels back except the ION channels.
So even though I'm a renter at the moment and I don't have the ideal set up with the antenna mounted outside, this set up has worked out so well I dumped Comcast months ago!!
I hope this helps anyone else in my area.
