From your post I am assuming the Radio Shack antenna is indoors. After reviewing your TVF report I'm inclined to recommend an outdoor antenna. An antenna such as this http://www.solidsignal.com/pview.asp...0Antennas&sku= aimed at aprox. 60° on your compass should provide all the networks including PBS. This antenna is not designed to cover VHF 5 but WCYB (NBC) covers your area with their UHF 29 signal and given the high signal level of VHF 5, I expect that the antenna I suggest will deliver more than enough signal for you to see that RF channel reliably.
If you want to receive http://goodtimevirginia.com/TV/W43BO on UHF 15 you may need to add a preamp like this http://www.solidsignal.com/pview.asp...u=615798396145
Also if you are going to connect more than one receiver then you may find it necessary to use the preamp as well.

If the well is dry and you don't see rain on the horizon, you'll need to dig the hole deeper. (If the antenna can't get the job done, an amp won't fix it.)
