Your chances of success inside an attic are quite poor. If we were neighbors, you'd see an antenna system on my roof, similar to that described by teleview (and as I describes in my first response).

If the well is dry and you don't see rain on the horizon, you'll need to dig the hole deeper. (If the antenna can't get the job done, an amp won't fix it.)
