If you want the best chance of getting the most possible NYC stations, you either need a rotor to point an all band antenna at Philly or NYC, or you need two completely separate antenna systems; one pointed at Philly and one pointed at NYC.

If you look at the pending channels for NYC, there is a new station on VHF Low RF3, so for NYC an all band antenna would be advisable. Many of the NYC stations have co channel or adjacent channel interference flags. In cases of co or adj. channel interference, an antenna with a narrow beam width gives the best chance of receiving the desired stations. The antenna craft HD1800 and 1850 have similar specs for VHF-low and UHF. There are no problem stations from the NYC direction requiring the 1850’s higher VHF-high gain.

If I lived where you live, I would have two antennas on my roof. I would follow teleview’s suggestion for the philly stations. I would have an antenna craft HD1800 pointed at NYC (30 degrees magnetic) with a 10G201 preamplifier.

Two all band antennas on the same mount would be a very large wind load, and they would want a minimum of 8’ vertically between them to keep them from interacting. If I had two large antennas on my roof, I would have a tripod and mast for each. I would separate the mounts by at least 20’ to keep the two antenna systems from interacting with each other.
