Couple of questions

I am toying with getting an attic mounted antenna to be able to pull in some stations when Direct TV is off air due to storms or whatever reason. I may eventually disconnect satellite service from my bedroom TV and use antenna input only - but not immediately. I need to work on the wife a little more before making that change.

First question - can satellite service and antenna input be spliced together on the same cable and if so, what if I add an amplifier to the antenna side? Will that work or must I run a second cable to that TV with satellite input? This second TV is currently an old tube style antique but will be replaced soon with a new smaller wall mounted HDTV.

The second question has to do with antenna choices. I do not want to spend a fortune nor do I have a lot of space in my attic. I am looking at the RCA Ant751R or possibly an Antennas Direct C2-V-CJM, but if there is a better option to consider, I would love the input. Finally, what direction would you recommend that I point the antenna? My TVFool analysis is as follows:

I much appreciate any input you can provide.
