The trees are going to make reception less reliable unless you can mount above them. Of course, safety and cost have to be considered.

Still, before drilling holes or spending money on a tower, try testing reception with the antenna held in position by temporary means. If there's a modest breeze, you'll be able to judge the effect of moving foliage.

If the well is dry and you don't see rain on the horizon, you'll need to dig the hole deeper. (If the antenna can't get the job done, an amp won't fix it.)
