If your first report is reasonably accurate, I'd suggest an Antennas Direct DB4e facing about 335° per a compass. I'd also add an Antennacraft Y10713 pointed at WTNH (297°). Combine the two antennas with an Antennas Direct UHF/VHF Signals Combiner.

If the well is dry and you don't see rain on the horizon, you'll need to dig the hole deeper. (If the antenna can't get the job done, an amp won't fix it.)
