Just to clarify, the CS5 won't aid the reception of real CH-30 or CH-31.
The OP's specific statement, "I am specifically hoping to get 30 and 31 (it is the World Series and I'm in Sox territory...) I am not particularaly interested in non-UHF stations or stations in other directions." seems pretty definite.

If the well is dry and you don't see rain on the horizon, you'll need to dig the hole deeper. (If the antenna can't get the job done, an amp won't fix it.)
