Though the CM-4228 has some H-VHF capability, my preference would be a Winegard HD7694P. (This is a case where there are several other good choices.)

I agree, an amplifier should not be needed.

If the well is dry and you don't see rain on the horizon, you'll need to dig the hole deeper. (If the antenna can't get the job done, an amp won't fix it.)
