You're absolutely right, looking to the NNW only WBNG operates in the VHF band.

The UHF antennas mentioned in post #8 of this thread are 'big and powerful UHF' antennas. You'll need to try one to know how much impact the trees make in this case.

If the well is dry and you don't see rain on the horizon, you'll need to dig the hole deeper. (If the antenna can't get the job done, an amp won't fix it.)
