I would be inclined to avoid an attic install, you would loose precious signal strength while placing the antenna closer to interference generating appliances and electronics in the home. It costs nothing to run another TV Fool report using higher AGL. It would be interesting to see what could be gained by mounting higher.

If the well is dry and you don't see rain on the horizon, you'll need to dig the hole deeper. (If the antenna can't get the job done, an amp won't fix it.)
