The San Diego market is generally a two antenna area. That appears to be the case in this situation as well.

An Antennas Direct DB4e facing about 150° will cover the UHF stations. An Antennacraft Y5713 pointed at 189° covers the VHF signals. You'll need a UVSJ to combine the antennas into a single coax.

You didn't mention how many TVs will be connected, but this system should be capable of driving a 4-way splitter without a preamp.
