Lokking for Antenna suggestions/advice

I just moved into a new house and I'd like to try and go without cable, but definitly need my locals. The previous owner had dish network, so my thought process was to remove the dish itself and mount an antenna to the dish pole on the roof. The dish has 3 coax lines coming from the eye into the house which go into a a dish network splitter, I figured I could use one of those lines to feed the antenna into the house, then run that line into my own splitter to feed my three tv's, bypassing that dish network splitter.

I know nothing about antennas so was looking for some suggestions on what to buy. My tvfool report is here:

Most of the channels I care about are within about 30 miles (NBC,CBS,ABC,FOX) although it would be sweet to pick some of the 65 mile channels (CBC out of Canada.)

Not sure what equipment I might need (amp etc) or if somehow using the dish network roof pole and coax are impractical.

Thanks for your help!
